Memento

Here's an excerpt from an email (circa 5 minutes ago) I sent to brother brian - I thought it was important. Try it on for size.

Hey – i think I’m getting senial... no really.... a few months back I misspelled ‘green’ as ‘grean’ – not a typo cuz ‘A’ is like over a key and a half from ‘E’ (and I was already on ‘E’ from the first one) – then to make shit even more worserest – today... I typed ‘teeth’ as ‘teath’ – yeah thats right – ‘teath’ – granted I was speaking about green tea... so I might get a pass there but good god darnit I’m too young to be losing my minds. – This is important – I think I may copy it to my blog for record in case I’m ever like that dude in memento who has to write everything down to remember it the next day and then he has to figure out... the end of the movie or whatever. Ok laters. --bp

What do you guys think? Who are you guys anywaze - I only have 1 comment... I guess you guys are me. Fair enough. We guys think its a solid concept - can't be too careful.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

The Berns broke her rib today. Fractured to be precise, whilst coughing to hard. Her poor body has been shaken by this cough for a few long weeks, but just when it seemed to begin to subside - pop - a cough this morning did some real damage. Fortunate to have a doc in the family - Dianne and my pop jammed right over to evaluate and bring meds. The codine helped dull the excruciating pain (she'd been in tears several times upon coughing, giggling, or moving wrong) - BUT it also seemed to upset her tummy - so we now know the one thing more miserable than a busted rib, is a busted rib while vommiting violently... and also whilst preggy with pressures from all angles. The Berns is a serious trooper tho - and has weathered the storm as gracefully as ever. i've done my best to help, but dag yo - I'm pretty helpless - all we can do is keep her comfy, and make sure she doesn't try to move too much. We're gonna need to push in another few months in labor, thus we need a good strong rib in there so as not to pop it out again in the delivery room - man would that be terrible. But we should have enough time to heal her up good as new. Bummers huh?

Victorious - A Few Quick Snaps From A Quick Jaunt to BC

Go Canadia!

So We're off tomorrow - bright and early. The Berns and I are going to lounge in Victoria for about 4.5 days. My lovely mother, beautiful sisters, and brother-in-law-on-the-mend will be joining us up at the Empress for 'Sunday Tea' which should be simply wonderbus... I'm excited that they can all come, but a little bummed cuz Martin can't make it.

Weather is looking Pac-Northwesternish, with clouds and drizzle - which is cool, and cold. We'll break out the cool weather gear. berns looks sweet in ponchos...

Not sure what we'll get into up there - whatever the Berns wants I guess - since its her b-day present (turned 30 a coupla weeks ago!), I think we'll check out some of the 'first nations' stuff, probably drive up the west coast of the island to see what thats all about... explore downtown, find an adventure or two - but it'll be good to get some R&R on our last little excursion as non-parents!

In Heavy Rotation

Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

Wow interesting, both albums in heavy rotation have 'dead' in the title... berry interestink. So this album I must say was a moderate let down upon first listen - I expected very little after the huge Float On success, and this delivered... BUT THEN... I listened again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and then..."ooooh. kinda nice.. not all put together but some real nice tracks." Now like most of the tunes i dig on - Modest Mouse is an acquired taste - I highly prefer their early stuff to this super-produced, too much cash in the studio budget, lets bring in an orchestra, version of the Mouse - BUT - as mentioned there are some bright spots. Diggin a few at the top of the album (wut's an 'album'?) and a few at the back-side. The middle I can mostly skip. Hey another spanks to BT for turning me on to MM - with that lovely and flowery - Paper Thin Walls, and the oh so dreamy Dramamine (oh who am I kidding this album is not MY Modest Mouse... dag nabbit...)

In Heavy Rotation

El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead

OK - been listening to this on my way to work at 8 hundred hours - really gets the blood pumping. For those of you un familiar - el-p is the dopeness. Insane hyper-contemporary hip-hop, maybe even futuristic. He's like a scene from some sci-fi, post-apocolyptic, blade runnerish, mad maxian, desolationistis.... yeah. Creative guy - lyrics are layered and at first listen sound angry, but keep listening, more like 'determined' (ok angry too). His production is on another level too - I think thats his bread and butter - hyper, layers on layers, electronic, old skule boom bap, just a fierce blend of aggro sound... Tracks: Run the Numbers is the tastiest followed by No Kings... was disappointed that the track with Cat Power on it kinda sucked... Wonder if Baby Pearson would like to take a listen - pretty advanced tho - an acquired taste for sure. Thanks to brother BT for turning me on to El-P - oh and btw - he is one ugly some of a basket...
