It's late... We're outside of Redding. Getting sleepy. Not much

We just came thru a snazzy patch of weather with the most hugantistest rainbow I ever did beheld. Even bigger and brighter that the famous rainbow atop mount Haleakahala. It was truely neato. It doesn't come off so well on this lil camera phone but it was powerful. Some more bad pics to follow....

So we just called the handy 511 weather service and got the sloppy report... We can't go out to the coast as there are floods and high waters closing 101... And we can't go to crater lake as there is 'heavy snow' along 2 of the roads out there. I suppose we 'could' go but it would be slooooowwww and probably wouldn't see much in this weather.
So we're heading straight down 5 and hope to bunk near the border depending on conditions... Had some flurries down there today, sounds like snow tonight... Could be fun.

Best thing in Oregon - I guess you can legally gamble so long as you have a sandwich with it...

It's so picturesque, it looks as tho its a postcard or perhaps the cover of a road atlas. 'American Maps' 2003 Road Atlas to be precise... Tee hee - its actually still soggy, grey, and poody out here - but at least the rain has been light so far...

So we're headed home after a good visit with all the island fam, my pop, and all of the Oregon Fam too.
Xmas was a success and we spent some good time eatin', walkin', watchin', talkin', gamin', et cetera-in'. Good eats, and many sweets.
We're approaching the Port Land and gonna cruise on thru til whenever. Not sure where we'll spend New Years Eve but we got up early so it might be in dreamland.
So far the weather has been dry, but as I finger these keys the drops are falling faster... Supposed to be some nasty storms ahead of us so we'll take it nice-n-slow... Real careful likes...
Portland - 47 milos

So we made it - greeted by Daisy and Cosmo we settle in at the Casa de Mammy. We're ready for xmas and so are the other 21 family members who will be present for the feast. We'll sign off for now cuz the camera phone has spotty reception up here and we'll be too busy to post.
This mobile blogging thing has been a worthy test and fun to publish - albeit not terribly glamorous or engaging - need better quality cameras on these dam phones! It was a good experiment - I think we'll continue this in future adventures - but we'll try to make it more exciting so we can win a stuffed animal at the cyber fair for coming in "Participant" in the best mobile blog category... ok byebye then - for now....

We're on the ferry destined for Orcas Island - should arrive in about an hour...

ok - its not REALLY bern - just the rolling stone cover - Saw Kong movie tho - liked it, didn't love it. --bp

Nice pic - 'muddiness' really symbolic, the contrast, the composition, it all just works together... crap.

Dad arrives early then rubs Herbert the magic travel idol for safe travels - the car is stuffed to the gills with people and luggage - good thing pop packs light!

Day three wakey time... The girls were outta bed before us... Now we gots to get ready, find some grubbage, pick up my dad at the aeropuerto, and try to make the noon-time ferry. Almost there! --bp

Samantha and buddy Emilia arrive safe and sound from Virginia.

It was madness - we saw a family who's mom and son had just been inked together with individual tattoos - they waited for their son who arrived in uniform, fresh from iraq we presume as there were tears upon his welcome - seemed like he'd been away for a while.
There were quite a few young men in uniform - and it was striking to really see how young they were -they only looked about 13! I'ts sad to me that they're old enough to die for this war - and its emotional to see them come home to their parents - I can't imagine having a child in that situation.
